Update: The practice manager called to offer condolences and collaborate on resolving the issue with paw print. They're making changes to prevent similar experiences in the future. Additionally, they're planting a tree in my pet's honor, a touching gesture. I appreciate their commitment to learning, but I'll keep my original review for others.

While the staff is generally friendly and the vets seem compassionate, my experiences have been pretty disappointing. During a dental procedure for my cat, there was a lack of clear communication regarding the need for verbal permission during anesthesia. I was taken aback when they tried to charge me for the extra anesthesia — which I wasn't adequately informed about (no mention on the consent form).
In a more recent and emotionally challenging incident involving the euthanasia of my 19-year-old cat, a paid-for commemorative paw print was promised but never received due to a processing error. This, coupled with a hefty bill, has left me at a loss.
Despite expressing my frustrations about communication gaps and errors, and having spent hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars, the overall service keeps falling short of expectations. They have been receptive to my feedback regarding suggestions for enhancing processes and communication. Despite my ongoing willingness to give them the benefit of the doubt, I find myself deflated and disappointed. While the location and history are convenient, the recurrent issues make me consider seeking veterinary care elsewhere.
Patient, experienced, sound advice. We're here with cats and a large dog. It's a stressful transition from our old vet who we loved, while Dr. Fitzgerald here has made it easier. Recommended!
Edit: they weren’t closed when I called, that’s a blatant lie. I asked the vet tech multiple times and she relayed back from the vet multiple times to go to emergency vet, which I repeatedly told them I can’t afford. After they drained me of my money on treatments that didn’t work they didn’t have decency to even let him pass there.
I’ve been really angry since March and waited to write a review to make sure it wasn’t from an emotional place. I took my cat here for recurring UTIs. I told them what a previous vet did that worked and they wouldn’t do it. He would be fine a month or 2 then get a uti again, I’d tell them what worked, they wouldn’t do it, now he’s dead. I spent thousands on his care at the emergency vet, hundreds here, and when I begged for help over the phone they turned me away and I accrued another thousand at the emergency vet.
I called crying in March saying his UTI back and I couldn’t afford treatment so he needed to be let down. I maxed all all my credit cards, got care credit, and my dad just passed so I spent 8k on his funeral. I needed it done there because it was several hundred cheaper than emergency care. I can’t remember who “treated” Oscar, but she relayed that I needed to get to emergency care ASAP because it was life threatening. That’s why I called- they charged me 100s for treatment that didn’t work when I repeatedly told the doctor what did, then when I needed help in a completely devastating time they told me to go to emergency care.
Blue Pearl was very compassionate but I’m still paying off the euthanasia that could’ve been done here, where I spent 100s of dollars with people I mistakenly trusted with my cat’s care.
My family, which includes felines, canines, and humans, love the veterinarians and staff at the Evanston Animal Hospital. They’re knowledgeable, caring, compassionate, and responsive.
Always leave knowing the staff and doctor are thorough and care about my pets' well-being. They're also very nice and my wait is never too long.
They are also tolerant, as my dog is a big spaz!
As one of Dr Henry's first patients when she started her practice, I was initially very happy.
Unfortunately her practice has fallen into a second-tier status that's about the same as a pet store practice.
When I called to see if they could see Ripley due to her limping possibly from a cracked nail within the next several days I was informed by a rather insolent person that Dr Henry said they aren't an urgent care and the next available appt time was 16 days hence.
AVOID THESE GUYS AT ALL COSTS.
And whoever posts these snarky responses acting like you actually care about your patients, please don't bother. You could spend your time better by finding five minutes to see your patients and keep your customers happy.
Dr. Henry is wonderful. When my precious Gilly passed away they were absolutely amazing and filled with love And compassion. He had cancer and she was completely honest with us about the issues. He loved her gentleness and we all know Gilly wasn't a vet fan. We rescued 2 kittens now and Dr.Henry and her wonderful staff are wonderful and very knowledgeable. I strongly recommend Evanston Animal Hospital! ❤❤
Fantastic staff! Women owned! Dr. Henry is amazing! I got to know of them from fostering for the Evanston Animal Shelter, and then started taking my own pup there as well, even though I live downtown Chicago- they're worth the drive! I won't take my kids anywhere else! Extremely patient staff, very kind doctors that will do whatever it takes to help your kid to feel better!
I won't forget Dr. Henry bravely handling one of my not so friendly fosters with a lot of patience and grace! Wonderful staff all around! Thank you EAH!!
